YouTube Adds VP/Sales and Marketing, YouTube TV Hire

YouTube is beefing up its staff, as the Google-owned video site added Lucas Watson (pictured) as vice president of sales and marketing (for both YouTube and Google Video), as well as Thomas Purnell-Fisher to work on YouTube TV.

Watson had been digital marketing director at Procter & Gamble, according to AdAge, and he was on the verge of relocating to Panama as marketing director of P&G’s packaged-goods business for Latin America before agreeing to move to Google and YouTube.

Watson was behind Old Spice video campaign “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like,” as reported by AdAge, and Google spokesman Rob Shilkin told the magazine, “We’re delighted that Lucas will be joining us as vice president of YouTube advertising sales and marketing, working to further drive our efforts in the rapidly growing video advertising space worldwide.”

Meanwhile, AllThingsD reported that Purnell-Fisher, formerly of Netflix, will work on YouTube TV, which had been referred to as YouTube Leanback. YouTube TV is designed for viewing on the TV set.
