YouTube Launches Advertiser Playbook, Gives Away $50 Million In Free Advertising

YouTube is making a major push to attract advertisers to the site and, to that end, are launching some new initiatives designed to help businesses get into the world of advertising on YouTube.

YouTube group product manager, Baljeet Singh, explains on the YouTube blog, “With a global audience of 800 million monthly visitors to YouTube, every day you can feel like you’re advertising in the Super Bowl, and one video can launch a business.  To help even more businesses play big with video, today we’re introducing a number of new products, resources, and tools.”

For starters, Google AdWords for video is now available to everyone.  Singh explains, “With Google AdWords for video, you only pay when someone chooses to watch your ad, and you can create and manage video campaigns from the same platform as your search and display ads.”  AdWords helps businesses target the right audience, measure the effectiveness of their ad spend, and with TrueView video ads businesses only pay when viewers choose to watch their ads.  Check out the video below to find out more.

To kick off the launch of Google AdWords for video to the general public, YouTube is offering $50 million in free advertising to help 500,000 businesses jump on the YouTube advertising bandwagon.  When businesses open up a new AdWords account they can receive a $75 credit, which can be used to reach more than 1,500 new customers on YouTube for one month.  Click here for your free credit.

YouTube has also released an Advertiser Playbook to teach advertisers the best practices and strategies when it comes to creating compelling content and building a YouTube audience.

Finally, YouTube has launched what they’re calling the YouTube Ambassador program.  The Ambassador program is made up of nine businesses that have done a phenomenal job reaching out to new customers, engaging fans and building their brand on YouTube.

Check out the video below to hear from people who have used YouTube to build their brands and advertise and let us know what you think about all these new video advertising opportunities.  Will you be claiming your $75 credit and getting your YouTube advertising career off the ground?
