YouTube Video Editor Now Lets You Edit Multi-Track Audio

The YouTube Video Editor is a handy feature that lets users clip, mashup and remix their videos.  However, one big complaint about YouTube’s editor has always been the fact that you couldn’t edit audio.  You could use your original audio or replace it completely with a track from YouTube’s music library.  This week all that changes, as YouTube has launched a new audio editing feature.

YouTube Software Engineer Bob Glickstein announced the new audio editing features yesterday on the YouTube Creator blog.  Glickstein writes, “You can now mix music into your video’s soundtrack at levels ranging from ‘soft background’ to ‘completely replace.’”

Additionally, YouTube has added more tracks to their library of songs, have made it easier for users to find the best songs across genres with “featured tracks” and they’ve revamped the Audio Editing interface.  Check out the video below to see the new audio editing feature in action.

Glickstein reports that, “These improvements will be available over the next day to all creators around the world.”  You can check it out for yourself by going to your Video Manager and then clicking Edit > Enhancements > Audio.
