Viewers Report Error Messages on YouTube

YouTube viewers are having trouble watching videos, according to user reports on DownRightNow, Twitter, and YouTube’s help forum.

This afternoon, visitors have reported seeing a “502″ message that says the server has encountered a temporary error. Embedded videos show a “Http/1.1 Service Unavailable” message in place of a video screen.

Help may already be on the way. In the last few minutes, the website status monitor DownRightNow has upgraded the site’s status from “likely service interruption” to “possible service interruption.”

YouTube has yet to confirm an interruption in service, but we’ve reached out to a company spokesperson for more information.

Update: YouTube is back up as of 3:58 ET, according to DownRightNow.
