As you may have heard, yesterday Google+ launched business pages to open up a new channel for businesses to connect with their fans, and one of the first brands to jump on the pages bandwagon was YouTube. Yesterday on the YouTube blog, YouTube announced +YouTube, a new social channel where YouTube fans can get their fix of news, live streamed events, and even hang out with some of their favorite YouTube stars via Hangouts.
+YouTube has got over 30,000 followers so far. In one of their first posts they explain what they’d like to get out of the Google Plus page and what they’d like to provide their fans:
“Hello new-found Community! We would like to learn more about you – so tell us the videos that make you laugh, warm your heart, ROFL and the ones that compel you to share with friends. Do you like movies, music, trends, sports, and news? Perhaps you want us to feature your favorite celebs ordinary people with extraordinary talents in a Google+ Hangout?”
The +YouTube Google Plus page has only been live for one day, and they’ve already hosted one fun Hangout with The Muppets on YouTube.com/GooglePlusHangouts. Here’s hoping that there will be a lot more YouTube hosted Hangouts with fun celebrities and weblebrities.
The launch of the YouTube business page on Google+ comes just days after YouTube physically became a part of everyone’s Google+ homepage. Now when you head over to your account at Plus.Google.com you’ll find a little YouTube icon on the right side of your screen where you can create topical playlists. Click here to find out more.
What’s your take on YouTube’s foray into Google+? Will you be adding YouTube to your circles?
