One of my few continued disappointments in the mobile tech world is the inability to edit Google Docs documents on any mobile device (Android, Windows Mobile, iPhone, iPad). Google Docs documents are view-only on mobile plaforms. And, Google Docs spreadsheets has a weird modal editing that only permits editing the cells of one row at a time. It is like something from an alternate steampunk timeline where full screen editing was never invented.
When I saw this entry in Zoho’s blog, I hoped that Zoho had cracked the problem of cloud editing on an iPhone. Zoho is a relatively small company that in some ways has exceeded Google’s cloud products. Perhaps, they had out-Googled Google again?

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Zoho’s free iPhone app is a read-only solution too.

Why is cloud editing on a mobile platform so difficult that not even the talented engineers at Google and Zoho can deliver a solution?
