Zoofs is a new service that helps users discover which YouTube videos are the most popular on Twitter. The site compiles all the most tweeted about YouTube videos, ranks them by popularity and makes it easy for users to click through and watch. Zoofs takes the legwork out of searching for popular and interesting online video content and serves up a variety of the most talked-about video clips on the web.
Zoofs is brought to you by Tootcorp, a Jordanian media company responsible for the video sharing portal Ikbis and the micro-blogging service Watwet. The company describes themselves as “your destination for YouTube videos that are hot, fun to watch and truly up to date with what’s happening in the world. These are the videos that people thought are worth sharing with the world.”
The site features an incredibly simple interface, as you can see from the screenshot below. Users are invited to click on video thumbnails to watch each video directly from the Zoofs site. Viewers can opt to watch all videos, those that were uploaded to YouTube in the last 72 hours and, currently, World Cup 2010 video clips.
Users will notice that some videos are marked with ‘Zoofs Pick.’ Zoofs Pick videos are those that the staff at Zoofs thought were especially good and worth highlighting. However, it’s a pretty safe bet that most of the clips on Zoofs are worth watching (especially if you love Justin Bieber). After all, these videos are being tweeted about more than any other videos on YouTube.
These days as more and more video content is uploaded to the web it can be difficult to sift through it all to find the real gems. By leveraging tweets, Zoofs is able to bring users the best of the best – the videos that everyone is talking about. Sites like Zoofs, which bring the top content to the users, are likely to be the future of our online video searching experience. What do you think of the concept behind Zoofs? How do you feel about the selection of videos that are being tweeted about most?
