Zuckerberg Will Host Fundraiser for N.J. Gov. Chris Christie

social media, social networksMark Zuckerberg made his first foray into charitable donations in 2010, contributing $100 million to Newark, New Jersey, public schools. Next month, he’s set to make his debut in political fundraising, hosting a fundraiser for New Jersey governor Chris Christie at his Palo Alto home, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Republican, who many hoped would run for president in 2012, is running for a second term as governor.

Mark and his wife Priscilla Chan “have worked closely with Governor Christie on education reform in the Newark school system. They admire his leadership on education reform,” a Facebook spokeswoman told the Journal.

Zuckerberg is registered as an independent. The company’s political action committee, or PAC, contributed to both Democrats and Republicans in the last election cycle.

The event is set for February 13.
